The National Museum is an excellent place for visitors to receive a ‘crash course’ of sorts about Sri Lanka. It was recently furbished, but its original structure has been retained. Unveiled on January 01st 1877, it was founded by Sri Lanka’s then British Governor of Ceylon, Sri Henry Gregory. Some of its most notable features include the crown and throne of the last King of Sri Lanka Sri WickramaRajasinghe, as well as other artefacts from bygone eras. Each piece tells a story that weaves into a complete narrative, not just offering information, but bringing those times to life.
