One of the country’s most prominent locations, Horton Plains National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is found between Nuwara Eliya and neighbouring mountainside locale, Haputale. The area is home to an astounding variety of ecosystems, and visitors can embark on a trek that takes them through all the different plains, from rocky, humid rain forests to vast open grasslands and more. Information on certain flora and fauna found in each area can be found erected every so often, offering you an insight into life here. World’s End which you’ll come across during your trek is a must-see, although you’re strongly advised to see the deathly precipice it’s famed for on your stomach, as the winds are ridiculously strong and you really don’t want to be blown over.
